Ungkapan yang digunakan untuk meminta penelepon meninggalkan pesan (Asking the caller to leave message)

a.     Would you like to leave a message?

b.     If I can take your name and number, I will ask him to call you back.

c.     Just a moment, I will write that down for her.

d.     Okay. Just a second. I’ll get a pen and some notes for her.

e.     Just a minute. Let me note that so I can pass your message to her.

f.      Okay, I will make sure (that) he gets your message.

Pengertian Direct Speech

Direct speech adalah suatu cara melaporkan apa yang seseorang telah katakan atau tulis dengan mengutip   persis   kata-katanya.   Kata-kata   tersebut   diapit   oleh   tanda baca (tanda kutip).

 

Pengertian Reported Speech

Reported speech atau indirect speech adalah suatu cara mengungkapkan apa yang orang lain (speaker)   telah   katakan   secara   langsung   (direct   speech)   yang   dapat berupa pernyataan, pertanyaan, atau ucapan lainnya dengan mengubah format pembicaraan tersebut sehingga menjadi lebih jelas, alami, dan efisien bagi pendengarnya

	Present perfect continuous jadi past perfect continuous
			He told her that he had been to Italy
		“I have been to Italy,” he told her
	Simple past jadi past perfect	“Mala arrived on Wednesday,” he said	He said that Mala had arrived on Wednesday
	Past cotinuous jadi past perfect continuous	“We were living in Amsterdam,” they told me	They told me that they had been living in Amsterdam
	Future jadi present conditional	“I will be in Bandung on Sunday”	She said that she would be in Bandung on Sunday
	Future continuous jadi conditional continuous
		He said, “I’ll be using the car next month”	He said that he would be using the car next month
